I don’t know what we were thinking. We could have chosen anything to be the focus of our research. Tomatoes, birds, rats, ants… But no. Dr. Allsgood chose wasps. Why wasps? They don’t do anything. Wasps aren’t like bees. Their pollination of flowers is incredibly inefficient, even more so when you grow them to the size of a terrier. We could have made giant bees! Such things wouldn’t have lived as long, sure, since we wouldn’t have preceded that research with making giant flowers, but then at least we would not be in the predicament we are currently in.

You know what wasps are good at? Killing. Typically the only things they could kill were other bugs or small animals when they hunt in groups. But now they are as big as us. And guess what it is they are doing? KIlling. Thank whatever dark lord we’ve appeased by making these monstrosities, because they’ve all left. I guess they decided there wasn’t enough to feed their colony anymore. A growing colony.

We should never be forgiven. But damned if we’re not going to try and earn it before this gets much bigger.

We will burn like stars to mark the course. Let us hope it is enough.
